A Celebrated Union

I got the opportunity to be part of one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever witnessed. There was an incredible amount of anticipation surrounding this event. We waited months for the day to finally be here. Marriage counseling took place, bridal showers were thrown, dress fittings were done, and many many decisions were made-flowers, cake pops, cupcakes, location, songs for the DJ, the food, the drinks, and on and on and on. There was so much to be done! The anticipation was building with every passing day.

People worked endlessly to make the day perfect. Once it was here, the floodgates opened and rained threatened to drown the bride’s dreams for the perfect day with each raindrop that fell. But no…she wasn’t concerned about the circumstances; she kept her eyes on her groom. The one whom her soul loves. The rain fell, but we continued to prepare. Hairspray, bobby pins, and make up galore! The bride desired to look perfect for her groom. She slipped on her ivory dress made of dainty lace…she looked more beautiful than ever before. This was the day. The day she saw her GROOM. Finally, her groom. We were all ready, and it was time. The rain stopped. The sun peeked between the clouds ever so slightly. The birds were chirping. The crowd was seated. The music played. The wedding partied proceeded. The bride and her father rounded the corner…

After all the anticipation, the groom sees his glowing bride…

She literally took his breath away. She was beautiful and perfect in every way in his sight. This was the day she was his and he was hers… until death do them part. The held hands, gazed into one another’s eyes. They praised God for the sacrifice He made in ending His son as atonement for our sins that we might have a beautiful relationship with Him. They praised Him for this union HE brought together. They vowed before all of us, each other, and most importantly—Jesus. They vowed to love each other until death. They vowed to love Christ above each other. They vowed to serve Christ, one another, and others together. They vowed to be a living example of the Gospel as they walk through life together.  This was cause for great celebration!

The preparation for this day was overwhelming at times but worth every ounce of energy and work that took place. There was nothing but happiness and joy surrounding this celebration!

The glorious day is coming when we are united with our Heavenly Father. WE the church are HIS bride and we shall be married to Him for eternity!

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-26

That day we will look better than we ever have before…just like a bride on her wedding day. We will be washed clean because Jesus sacrificed Himself for us. He will welcome us with open arms…our sweet Jesus will be ours for eternity. The union will be celebrated! And unlike an earthly marriage, we will never ever part from Him! In death we meet Him face to face and live forevermore! Oh, glorious day!

“Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the angel said to me, ‘Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’ And he said to me, ‘These are the true words of God.’”
Revelation 19:7-9
