Marvelous Words

I’ve been reading through Psalms lately, and it’s been incredibly humbling and beautiful! I’ve been challenged, encouraged, and have felt so loved by the Lord! These words are full of power, convicting every inch of my heart. They push me to desire more of Jesus than I have before. They set a fire ablaze in my soul to fear the Lord increasingly. My heart sings with joy as I ponder these beautiful words. The spur me on to fix my gaze upon Jesus, as the trials and conflicts tempt me to avert my focus. They give me the opportunity to focus on the astounding perfection of the Lord and shout praises to Him! Allow the beauty of these words to penetrate your heart…

“I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8

Doesn’t that make your heart feel a little bolder? Does courage and strength you can’t quite muster on your own spring up inside of you? We shall NOT be shaken when the Lord is at our right hand!

“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord have not forsaken those who seek you.” Psalms 9:9-10

These verses both encourage and challenge me. He IS a stronghold for the oppressed, and he doesn’t forsake those WHO SEEK HIM! We must be seeking Him! We can’t just expect the Lord to be our genie in a bottle and show up ONLY when we want Him to. We must constantly be seeking Him!

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

Oh, that this might be my prayer! The words of my mouth and meditation of my heart are exceedingly important. From the overflow of my heart, my mouth speaks. I want them both to be in check…I want Jesus to be King over them!

“The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.” Psalm 25:14

I want that intimacy with Jesus…FRIENDSHIP. I want Him to be the one whom I can tell the intimate details of my heart. The one I want to spend the most time with. The one I put my trust in. This friendship is for those who fear Him! May my fear of Him increase!

I don’t know where you’re at in life. I don’t know what challenges you’re facing, what joys you’re experiencing,  or what your relationship with Jesus looks like. I don’t know what’s on your heart that you can’t quite fit into words. But I do know Jesus has beautiful words written out for you in the Psalms. He speaks through them. They are powerful, uplifting, somewhat sobering at times, challenging, and they will downright speak to the deepest part of your heart. Take a peek into Psalms and rediscover intimacy with our sweet Savior.

Please share which Psalms you keep close to your heart and why they’ve touched you so intimately…I love how the Lord uses scripture to speak power and truth into people’s lives just when we need it. I’d love to read about your experiences!

Psalm 55:16 As for me I will call upon God and the Lord shall save me.
I grew up in church up till around the age of 12 . I had a long hard 20’s and have felt Him tugging on my heart for years. Recently my husband and I were faced with some tough challenges and the only person I knew I could turn to was Jesus. He’s always been my constant. I found this prayer by David and was reading it to help with the healing and when I read Psalm 55:16 it felt like nothing else I was reading mattered in that moment. All that mattered was the Lord will save me, He’ll remain my constant. Its one of the first Bible verses I’ve memorized since “re-beginning” my journey and growing my relationship with Him.
It’s seem so simple, but the meaning is so BIG! It makes my heart swell!
    Thank you for sharing today!
